Dr Nicole Bien’s Visit to Pakistan
International Baccalaureate Organization Head Office in collaboration with the IBPAK Executive Council, hosted a meeting on the eve of 3rd June, 2023 at the Serena Hotel, Islamabad.
Dr. Nicole Bien – Chief Schools Officer was invited as the Chief Guest by Ms. Uzma Shujjat, IB Regional Manager for Pakistan, Iran & Nordic Region. The Chairperson of the IBPAK, Ms. Farah Masood presented the journey of IB in Pakistan and its exponential growth since the inception of IBPAK. Ms Masood highlighted the development of IB Schools in Pakistan and key initiatives by the community. Ms. Fakhra Shahid, Vice Chairperson of the IBPAK EC, further elaborated on the legacy and the milestones met by IBPAK over the course of last decade.
The Chief Guest from the IBO Head Office, Dr. Bien shared valuable insights on the Pakistan Strategy for the development of IB in the country, upcoming advancements in the IB, alongwith growth strategies and recognition of all four IB programmes in Pakistan. Moreover, she presented the latest updates on teaching and learning of the IB, professional development opportunities alongwith expansion of IB Educator Network (IBEN), and shared emerging market incentives for the IB Schools of Pakistan. A section of Dr Bien’s address highlighted the global initiatives on student well-being, expansion of Learning Hubs by the IB and the much celebrated ‘Festival of Hope’. Additionally, Dr Bien responded to the queries related to IB Standards and Practices posed by the representatives of IB Schools. The meeting was attended by IB Leadership in Pakistan who greatly commended the advancements under way and gave their input via a collaborative question/answer session. The evening concluded with Dr. Bien and Ms. Uzma Shujjat, appreciating the agentic role of IBPAK EC as changemakers including Ms. Farah Masood (Chairperson), Ms. Fakhra Shahid (Vice Chairperson), Ms. Fatima Khan (General Secretary) and Ms. Saima Sohail (Manager Communications) for successfully bringing all stakeholders together hence depicting an uplift of IB in the country.
